Autumn 2022
Welcome to my newsletter.

I could not resist an image of the white cosmos still flowering in my Cotswold garden, a last reminder of the past summer.

These entrancing flora also inspired the embroidered textures on the linen jacket ‘Gardening with Vita’.

Many of you will have seen the Sissinghurst collection of embroideries in my new book Embroidery Atelier – Visions & Passions, which were influenced by the gardening outfits of Vita Sackville- West.

The summer season was busy with ‘Open Studio’ and ‘Study Sessions’ , visitors enjoyed seeing the original works from the book. The next studio exhibitions will be next summer, but for those of you in UK there are a few events happening this autumn, see below.

The Textile Fair at Compton Verney
November 12 - 13

The inspiring setting of Compton Verney Art Gallery and Park hosts this popular textile show, and I am pleased to be taking part again, displaying some works from Embroidery Atelier and signing copies of my book.

Visitors can also enjoy the exquisite exhibition ‘Dutch Flowers’, organised by the National Gallery, London and Compton Verney.

I have always loved these beautiful paintings and I am creating an embroidery to celebrate these stunning works.

Tickets are on sale now for the Textile Fair

Shaking hands with history

Embroidered gloves bedazzled the elegant fingers of the Elizabethan aristocrats, and this accessory caught my attention to inspire artful decorations with stitch and print.

Unique pieces created for the chapter ‘Past Passions’, the photos here illustrate a detail from the ‘Suffragette Stitches’ gloves and an image from the design board.

Other gloves in the book feature an embellished gauntlet for the ‘Gardening with Vita’ collection, another art piece to frame rather than a fancy wearable accessory!

Commission for an embroidered choker

The ‘Gilded’ choker created for the new publication caught the eye of an American client when she visited my studio a few years ago with a textile tour party.

I have just commenced the design work ready to start stitching, the colourway exchanges golds and crimson tints for silvery sparkle mingled with blues, mauves.

Look out for images in a future newsletter.

And finally………………

The October/November issue of Stitch magazine landed this week and for your interest it features an interview about my work.
